Setting static device ip

Sun Aug 29, 2021 5:58 pm

Wired connection via Winbox 3.29. I follow the Mirotik tutorial to set my mobile phone to static. I do not see the IP designator change from 'D'. What am I doing wrong?

IP/DHCP Server/Leases/Doubleclick phone/Make Static/OK.

I just tried it to make sure you did not just discover a bug in 3.29. Worked fine for me. As soon as I click "Make Static" in the device popup box, the D cleared.
The other way to make it static in Winbox is to right click on it and select Make Static in the resulting menu (the bottom entry).

Tried both but no success. The 'D' does not change. Was the same with 3.28. I also cannot edit 'comments. Must be some access restriction from my ISP?

What does the ISP have to do with your router settings?

Please post your config
/export hide-sensitive file=anynameyoulike

What does the ISP have to do with your router settings? I wondered if they had placed some access restrictions on what I can change.

Please post your config Unable at present as not in premises. Will do when. Excuse dim light, but how would I do that?

Just to confirm

IP/DHCP Server/Leases/Doubleclick phone/Make Static/OK is all I need to do and the 'D ' should disappear? Nothing else?

k6ccc

Since you appear to dismiss possible ISP settings, and while I wait for an opportunity (and guidance on how) to extract the config, can you come up with anything that can be causing the problem?

I'm not the one who posted that this should have nothing to do with your ISP - but I completely agree with the statement.

As for posting your configuration - To export and paste your configuration (and I'm assuming you are using WebFig or Winbox), open a terminal window, and type (without the quotes) "/export hide-sensitive file=any-filename-you-wish". Then open the files section and right click on the filename you created and select download in order to download the file to your computer. It will be a text file with whatever name you saved to with an extension of .rsc. Then in your message here, click the code display icon in the toolbar above the text entry (the code display icon is the 7th one from the left and looks like a square with a blob in the middle). Then paste the text from the file in between the two code words in brackets.

Sorry for the mis-attribution and thanks for the export help.

Can anyone offer help with
"can you come up with anything that can be causing the problem?"

@mikejp, what ROS Device, model are you using ?
Did the ISP provided you that Router or not ?

Under system users, the username you are using, does it show Full Group permissions or not ?

Cannot check until 'present' in the property again. Yes, ISP supplied. I think a hap lite.

Thank you Zacharias - that is what I wondered. That would be a very simple answer and it probably DOES refer to the ISP despite other opinions. I will check when able.

Well once we knew that you a. dont have the router in your possession and b. dont own the router, perhaps a bit of truth and basic information makes things so much easier to understand.

Zacarias - confirmed limited access for the username and password the ISP have given me. I'll see what they will trust me with :-)

ISP say they have amended my access, but it will be a week or so before I can check it out.
