The point is that I'm not sure if more than 1 GB is supported! It will boot of course, but I don't know if 2.9 will actually USE anything above 1 GB??? I know there was a 1 GB limit some time ago and I believe that more than 1 GB is supported in 3.x only.

I'm not sure, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't want you to spend your money on something that won't help :-)

The point is that more than 1 gig of RAM can only be USED in 3.x
So if you NEED it, you should upgrade. If 1 gig is enough and you don't need any "bleeding edge" features, stay with 2.9

The most basic update steps are:
Just type /system licence print so see if you can upgrade to 3.x If yes, download the appropriate image, copy it via winbox into your files window and reboot.

NORMALLY this should be everything you need to do and all should still be working.
You should check if you have any settings that changed from 2.9 to 3.0 of course!!!!!!!

Dear airnetgt,

You can update from 2.9 to 3 but I don't think it's a better idea now cause ver 3 is still upgrading that's why it's called 3rc (RELEASE CANDIDATE). you can update your MT OS after a stable ver 3 will be available.

Thanks
