Point to Multipoint Base Station Using Mikrotik RouterBoards

Hi,

I want to deploy a point-to-multipoint base station using Mikotik. For this task I have chosen RouterBoard X86 to be a master point (near end) and routerboard 411 to be at the client side (far end).

What should I configure the master point as well as the clients' CPE in order to establish the link.

Am I reasonable in choosing these routerboards? any other suggestions are most welcome.

Regards,

AFAIK the only Routerboard X86 based is the 230 model. It is now an old version and i'm sure you can find other newer faster models.
Can you please post more information about the network you are going to build. i.e range, number of users, bandwidth needed per user, frequency permited in your area, etc etc??

Actually, I want to deploy a wireless network to pass internet, data (inter-branching), as well as VOIP.

1- The range is about approximetly 30Km in all directions (for that I am planning to install many sectors to cover all directions- North, South, West, and East -.

2- The Number of users is 25 users and this number may grow in the future.

3- The bandwidth needed per user differs from one to another and vary from 256K up tp 2M. Rarely the request goes up to 4M.

4- I want to use the unlicensed, a mixture of 2.4GHz and 5.2GHz.

Regards,

A primary site has been chosen, but I need now to evaluate the coverage. Actually I had not experience Mikrotik before but I do have knowledge in others.

I do want to do traffic and VLAN shaping as well as to use traffic priority. What do you suggest as an AP as well as a CPE.

Would be great sending any manual, configuration document for the suggested equipments.
