limiting wireless link bandwidth in mikrotik

Thu Jul 30, 2009 11:20 pm

hi

I have a lobometrics 954RS and 120` sectoral antenna as a base station, and I am using TT-slab and another lobo radios to connect to it.
I am providing internet from this base station radio to the clients.
I am not using any accounting service, I just connect client units to my base station trough SSID and set the GW ip same as my base station unit IP.
how I can limit the bandwidth on each link I connect to base station?
lobo metrics uses routerOS and I am not familiar with the CLI of it, I always use "winbox"
can you help me plZ!

Regards
Alimoni.

You can limit bandwidth by interface if Your clients are RouterOS...
WINBOX > Wireless > Interface > 'wlan1' > [Wireless] > Default AP Tx rate / Default Client Tx rate

I did this but it didnt work,
I did this on the client side only.
I cant do it on the base station cuz the bandwidth for each user differs from each other.
is there any way to limit them by IP address on something else?

Ofcourse, You can use Simple Queues or maybe TransparentTrafficShaper...
WINBOX > Queues > [Simple Queues] > [+] > [General]
Target Address: 192.168.1.2/30 (example)
Max Limit: 1M 1M (example)

TransparentTrafficShaper
