Unable to connect to RB by default IP

Mon Sep 26, 2011 6:20 pm

Gents, please help me.

I have bought a new RB750GL. But I was not able to connect to RB by default IP.

Here is my steps:
1. Enable cable to port #2 (in documentation I read that by default DHCP server is enabled on Port 2 and 5).
2. Plug power
3. Wait while my ethernet adapter receive IP via DHCP

When it did not received IP then I have tried to assign IP manualy 192.168.88.2/24 but unfortunately it ended without results.

Also I tried connect to router through WinBox by MAC but without results too.

Thanks.

Download the winbox tool from the MT website: http://www.mikrotik.com/download/winbox.exe
install it and press the ´neighbourhood´ button (right beside the "Connect To:" field, left of the ´connect´ button)

If your PC is dhcp-client wait until the message comes up no IP is being received and the default one is set.
Or set a manual IP not in the expected range of the routerboard.

Now, by pressing the said button in the flap-down list the mac address (+ IP if available) should appear.
Click on the mac address and login with default admin and password ("admin", no password) or the ones set and you have a mac-winbox session with the same functionality as a full IP winbox session.

Now you can manage the routerboard and check if their is an IP available on the ports you attached to.

....
Thanks,
But I did it. And there was no items.

Today I replaced this router to new one, and the new router works fine.
I guess it was factory defect.

Thanks.

That would also be my guess. I router is not coming up, not even with mac. in the winbox discovery tool, that usually means something serious is wrong.
