RB1100AHx2 MEMORY

Sun Apr 29, 2012 1:27 pm

My RB1100AHx2 and what should be the flagship of the range is fast running out of memory, showing only 45M, it supposed to have a 2GB SODIMM, then I read only 512MB of that is useable anyway due to Router OS Limitations.

I have about 10 PPPoE users on, it looks like that will be my lot.

Surely if you are going to build good hardware like this you should at least have the OS to use it.

I have 160 wireless users and rising that have to have PPPoE ( most are DHCP at the moment ), I am going to have to replace it unless somthing is going to be done.

You are mixed up. RAM MEMORY is 2GB (1.5GB usable, NOT 512MB). The NAND STORAGE is 48MB. Don't mix those 2 things up.

PPPoE Users use RAM... NOT NAND. So, you are not limited like you think you are.

So why everytime I add a user the NAND value goes down it is now at 7.8M

It shouldn't be. Are you using logging or using proxy or dude or something?

According to Wiki:
Hardware usage: PPPoE uses approx. 9KiB RAM for each connection and CPU power. Maximum of 65535 connections is supported.

Regardless, there is nothing you can do about the hardware in the 1100AHx2.

I have 212 pppoe users created and 180 of them are connected to router. I have lot of cfg.backup files, rif, json files. 20MB NAND free. Only 200MB of RAM is used for pppoe sessions.
So you have something wrong. NAND of RB1100AHx2 is enough for router role. If you want to store something big you can add memory card which you need.

Wrong like what?, where do I look, It is a new unit it has not been in long, I have 2 bridges of 2 ports each, routed to port 11 with NAT enabled.

I have a PPPoE Server on each bridge, each of these has 5 users each, DHCP server is not used, only pools, and I have bittorrent upload blocked.

The other ports required are switched to one of the 2 bridges.

That is it.

I think I no what!

The NAND DISK on it has been corrupted by user manager when I tried to clear the logs.

Now I can not backup or create a supout file, I am worried that it will not come back on if I re-boot.

If this was on a PC with hard disk I would run a disk check.

Does anybody know how to run a disk check on the NAND
