DiffServ (DSCP) and 802.1p and unmanaged switches

Sat Dec 07, 2013 4:32 am

Hi guys,
I would like to know if a VLAN or packet marked with 802.1p can keep his mark after passing through an unmanaged switch?
What about DSCP marked packets, can the mark pass even through unmanaged switches?

Thanks,

A switch should just forward the packet. Even unmanagment switch. Only thing to chec, is the l2MTU possible to have trough the switch, and check that what you want to be switched, is no bigger than the maximum allowed.
