PoE on UTP 2x2 cat5. Is it possible?

Wed May 07, 2014 3:12 pm

Hi!

I have RB951G-2HnD and RBPOE (PoE injector for 10/100Mbps products).
Can i use UTP 2x2 cat5 (2 pair) for RB951G-2HnD power supply?

If answer NO, can you to recommend the model which can be powered via UTP 2x2 cat5 ?

Thanks!

The answer are NO,

and no one models, also from others constructors I know, are powerable with this type of cable.

But if you want use the cable for only powering the unit and you not want use the ether1, the answer is YES,
but you must wire correctly the plug on both ends.
I'm Italian, not English. Sorry for my imperfect grammar.

Probably it could work with Gigabit PoE inserter and non-standard wiring.
