capsman setup guide

Fri Jun 20, 2014 8:40 am

Can someone post what all needs to be configured for CAPsMAN to function properly, i can't seem to get it going despite all the mikrotiks are on 6.15....not sure how to activate it. Maybe this has already been asked in which case just a simple point me in the right direction would be nice.

****UPDATE****
Basic config guide here:

that guide is a good one, I got my AP's controlled in CAPsMAN now....I had to change some interfaces by making my CAP1-CAP4 in a bridge with ether2-local-master and change around some DHCP interface and IP address interface, but once that was done everything came up really good.

Aside form that, does anyone know how CAPsMAN controls the freq. with all AP's being on Chan 1 and they all work really good so far. Is this similar to a WDS scenario? i'm curious to know how it works on the wireless aspect.

Thank you!

:D

just two quick questions;

is it possible to create virtual AP also with it?
does it play nice if you have multiple AP's in same area with same settings, can it manage client roaming from one AP to another? (probably not yet implanted)

Yes.
Yes.
Yes. (does not need implementation)

Try it yourself. It is really nicely designed.

ye, figured that you can create virtual AP by adding interface and bind it to master interface :)

Missed that on first go.

works like a charm so far.
