Help selecting right product.

Tue Dec 09, 2014 5:29 pm

I work at a hotel. we have 50 rooms. Max users on a peak day would be 50-60 at once. 6 times a year.

We only have one internet provider in town. They offer 6mg/512kbps per line.
I wish to install 6 lines so that I would get 36mb/3mb to all my users. On an average I would have about 20 users per day. Some will be on cell, laptop, & tablets.

I have a gateway that manages the login and poe switch that is connected to access points.
I need some thing that will bond internet connects or advance load balance for all my users.

Please recommend what I should buy.

I can recommend a rb1100ahx2. Is a good option.

For load balance the connection from your customers you can use PCC method.

But note that it will balance the load, it will not bond the lines to one fat pipe.

thank you for your recommendation.
will RB1100AHx2 do advance routing and balancing?

i was looking in to CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ and CCR1016-12S-1S+

out of 3 models which one is easy install?
complex port FDW or staicit and dhcp ip configs?
which one might give me per line use chart or date used information.
e.g. out of 6 lines line 1-4 have been used the most and 5-6 not much......

are all ports WAN and LAN? or some only?

For you config I would prefer already mentioned RB 1100AHx2 to any CCR. Simply because of constant problems with CCR's.

Even cheaper devices with enough ports will work fine. Rb2011 or rb493 will be fine.

493G yes, RB2011 no. Every RB2011-xxx I've tried had some problem, I would stay away from it.

I don't remember any problem with 2011 that would lead me not to recommend this device.

This comes to my head immediatelly: RoS5 on RB2011 = random reboots, RoS6 is not something I would recommend for production. I agree with you otherwise, I just don't recommend CCR and RB2011.

Thus it seems to be a question of opinion. Can't say anything about ros5 on 2011 but 6.18 works well for me on 2011. Maybe you should rather report exactly described error instead of feelings. Their corrections by mikrotik will help to you personally and to all as well.

I am not sure what you mean. Please make a separate topic, or email support, since there are no specific CCR issues in last RouterOS version. Please try not to post generic complaints, rather contact MikroTik to solve the problems you have.

Like daveaz said, he is a user and he needs an advice on what to buy/use. I don't see the point in recommending routerboards that personally I was disapointed with in the past. I tried to recommend the most stable device that he would have the least problems with. I guess Normis you wouldn't have jumped into the debate if I would to praise your CCR's and RB2011 right?
