How to test if BGP configuration is correct on my router ?

Fri Oct 09, 2015 7:01 am

I only have one link from 1 ISP.
It got delivered 3 days back.
They said, the BGP routing is already done from their side and IP advertisements have been done.

I have also done the BGP routing configuration on my Microtik CCR1009, but not sure, where is the mistake.

Im not able to use my IP to access the internet.
How do I check ?
Where do I check, who has done the mistake ?
My side or ISP side ?

And is BGP routing necessary, if we have 1 WAN , or should we ask the ISP to do static routing ?

If you have your own AS from ripe etc- you need bgp - otherwise - no. If not- just put a default route to ISP linknet ip.

Post your config....
you can see the status of the BGP peer via winbox under the Routing, BGP, Peers tab.
you can see how many prefixes you are sending and what you are receiving.
Additionally system logging can also give you some clues as to what could be wrong.
