BGP Announcements

Tue Jun 06, 2017 2:59 pm

Hello,

Sorry to bother you but i have a rather simple question.
Lets say i have a mikrotik router and a BGP connection with my ISP.
If I do not put filters to this peer, does the full routing table i get from my ISP get send back to the same BGP Peer? (does my router become transit AS ?).
I know that if i have more than one BGP peer i need to put filters.

By default, most routing implementations will not accept any advertisements that have their own AS in the path. Also, the router won't advertise the routes it learns from one peer back to the same peer.

That said, it's generally a good idea to use BGP filters as soon as you are able to put them in.
