BGP peering route stall and rpfilter

Fri May 25, 2018 11:06 pm

Hi,
I am *supposing* bug with rp_filter=loose option.
From time to time, I am loosing connectivity with one of peering partners.
Thats not L2 problem, I can refresh, resend routes, i see established session and everything seems to be OK.

However, i don't see RX traffic on that interface (besides of bgp packets). Re-enabling interface, peering route - nothing helps. Only reboot.

Does rpfilter silently drops RX packets ? I suppose that bcs of some bug it may start to drop all incoming routed traffic on that interface.

Is there anyway to debug it ? Does rpfilter have some counters avaiable from mikrotik level, or it will just seen as Rx drops ?

You have two peering partners as well? Or you are just posting in someone's old topic with a new, unrelated problem?
rp_filter is quite tricky, especially in strict setting. I would say it is unusable in a situation with more than one peering partner.

No is the option here?

Had an issue with one provider with two sessions; Local and INt traffic.

Strict limited me much. Setting it to loose solved the issue of the two same asn sessions but limited me on another peer.

Try option No to see how it goes.
