Hi guys quick question regarding OSPF and getting interface costs to work properly.
I've got 4 routers in a loop
All routers have redistribute OSPF as type 1
All routers either 6.42.6 or 6.42.7
One of the links is kind of bad, but OK for backup, I just brought up a good link on the same router with the bad link, so I want to force traffic via this, from all routers destined to this site
What I did is on the site is added the interface (instead of dynamic interface) in /routing ospf interface, and gave it a cost of 30 (from the default 10), this should add enough that all routers prefer the other way, but on the other routers they are still receiving the routes as if its a cost of 10, the only router seeing the higher cost is the directly adjacent router for some reason, but it doesnt share that higher cost on.
Is type 1 the correct type to use for this scenario? Is there something else I need to do to up the cost of this site?
I'll try draw a map and provide some configurations if the answer is not quick/easy.
Thanks,
Joe
