BGP - Internet access without NAT

Fri May 01, 2020 3:26 pm

This probably the newbiest of newbies questions!

Please see attached schematic. (Swapped out public ip addresses)

I am running iBGP on all internal routers with OSPF as IGP. Both RTR009 and RTR010 receive full routes from upstream peers. And they both can access the Internet.

My problem is if I don't enable NAT on RTR009 and RTR010, the BRAS routers cannot access the Internet. Even when if I test with static routing.
Any pointers as to what I am doing wrong?

Thank you in advance
MK

Check that you're advertising your IP range(s) to your upstreams. If you are, check they're passing it on to the rest of the internet.

Enabling NAT on rtr 9 & 10 means you're using the IXP and ISP provided IP addresses, not your own.
