loadbalancing ipsec vpn

Wed Jul 29, 2020 9:28 am

I have setup mikrotik with 2 ipsec vpn connection to primary and secondary site. Can I know how I can load balance traffic between them? It can be active-active or active-passive. Preferably active-active.

server ----> mikrotik ------> vpn1 ------> primary (192.168.1.1)
------> vpn2 ------> secondary (192.168.2.2)

I have read on loadbalancing with mikrotik but non describe about loadbalancing the vpn. Would really appreciate if someone can provide some suggestions.

BTW, there may be also another potential issue. From server, I go to primary and secondary using their respective IP. If using loadbalancer means I need to have some sort of VIP that can swing between pri and sec. How do I achieve that?

BTW, this is using Mikrotik CHR.

Thank community!

Are the VPNs the same speed? You can use PCQ, but you will have different source/destination IPs and that could be a problem for you. You can use BGP also.
