Setting OSPF interface cost by speed

Sun May 30, 2021 6:44 pm

On Cisco routers, you can change OSPF cost based on a couple bandwidth numbers and an equation based on those numbers. Is there a way to do this with Mikrotik?

I believe you are referring to the 'auto-cost reference-bandwidth' command in Cisco. There is no equivalent MikroTik command, so you'll need to implement costs to align with the current speeds in your network and give yourself some room to grow.

if 10G is the fastest, consider using 10 or 100 for cost and reserve the lower values for growth.

You can manually calculate costs using formula below to get similar costs like Cisco

Cost = 100000000/bw in bps.
