good pattern to configure IPv6 failover with 2 ISP and BGP

Sun Sep 05, 2021 6:19 pm

I have right now 2 CCR2004 routers, each configured to a different providers and 2 DNS64 servers. Using eBGP they are announcing a /48. One is preferred over the other. Until now I configured a router behind them as a SPOF to handle the network on the LAN. I would like to remove it and just use the 2 routers in front instead.

How can I ensure that machine can fail over one router if needed when connected. Should I assingn a different prefix to each routers and advertise these prefixes to each machines so they get 2 IPs? Is there a way to let them know to use one preffered router in such case?

Is there any other pattern I could use ? (without NAT and possibly VRRP?)

Any hint/ Examples is welcome.
