MPLS MTU

Fri Aug 21, 2015 7:45 am

Hi.

I've tried to read through the documentation but I'm stuck.

I would like to setup MPLS in the following network

R1--->UBNT ROCKETA--->UBNT ROCKETB--->R2

I have created loopback interfaces on R1 & R2
I have setup LDP to use R1 & R2 loopback IP's respectively
MPLS MTU is set to 1560 on both Routers
When I enable LDP I see that the routers are appearing as LDP neighbors

However, when I try and setup a VPLS link between the 2 only interface comes up (normally R2), R1 shows the interface as down always.

Also, when I enable MPLS I lose SSH access to R2 (telnet works a bit, but stops when a lot of data is trying to be displayed). So I'm guessing its something to do with the Rockets and their MTU.

So, do I need to change the MTU on the rockets to get this to work? If I do that, do I need to change the MTU of the physical interface(s) that the rockets connect to?

Make sure Rockets support 1560 L2MTU and that there are no multicast problems on them.
Several reports in the past were that UBNT devices drops or corrupts multicast and doe snot support large enough L2MTU.

If it is an MTU problem you can change MPLS MTU to 1500 and see if it works.
