I have a question regarding emulating rx/tx queues for a Mikrotik CHR running on VMWARE ESXI.
ESXi version: 6.5
NICs: 2x Intel 82599EB (10Gig)
CPUs: 2x Intel Xeon X5660 Hex Core, 2.8 GHz
VM Configuration:
vCPUs: 24.
VM Network adapter types: vmxnet3
In this configuration, what would be the maximum number of Rx/Tx queues for each port (VM Network adapter, vmxnet3)?
I see just 08 TX/RX IRQ queues for each ethernet interface inside CHR RouterOS. System->Resource-> IRQ
In my case, though I add > 24 vCPUs for the VM, I see that Rx/Tx queues available are max 8. I was expecting numbers to be equal to vCPUs i.e. 24 in this case.
Appreciate any insight into how resource are allocated, and how to increase RX/TX queues to 24 IRQ RX/TX queues on each ethernet interface, as we have when a X86 Mikrotik (32bits) is installed directly without Esxi.
Thanks,
