Wireless in MetaROUTER

I want to run OLSR on a Mikrotik board, so I figured I needed to run OpenWRT in a MetaROUTER, But it seems I can't give a MetaROUTER control of a wireless interface, based on what I see online. Is this the case? If so, why?

Yes, only Ethernet interfaces are supported.
