Virtio-SCSI

Tue Nov 14, 2017 1:03 pm

Am I right in thinking CHR 6.40.5 doesn't support virtio-scsi as a storage device?

Created a VM in ovirt then copied the downloaded raw image over the HDD image ovirt had created (HDD image ovirt created was also RAW), RouterOS started booting and then decided it couldn't find the HDD.
Changed the Disk from virtio-scsi to virtio and it seemed to work so I'm guessing the CHR is missing the drivers for the virtio-scsi storage device.

The wiki states that virtio is not supported for boot devices, you can use it for extra disks, i just used it to add a second disk to mine and there are no issues at all.

If you're talking about dedicated server, that's right. Keep in mind that if we're talking about modern VPS hosting, most of them offers Virtio-SCSI only configurations, without rights of modification.
