looks like chr will never perform for me

Thu Apr 26, 2018 12:44 pm

I'd been struggling to get any kind of acceptable performance from chr on proxmox. Sever with fairly good configuration, dual Xeon 26xx at 2.2 ghz 8 cores 16gb ram intel x520 10g running proxmox. Mikrotik chr is running as pppoe concentrator. Some vlans and pppoe services running on them. User logged in around 1300. Problem unable to pass traffic required by the users. Complaints of slow, packet drops on access side. Slow down after 500-600mbps of traffic. Tried everything from disabling hyperthreading to upgrading till 6.43rc4. Knocked the doors of support with support file but no response. Its been now 4 months running trial p10 licence. Shall I declare chr will not perform in the near future ? or someone may help and improve performance.

thanks in advance

Hi, is there any chance that you are using masquerade ? If so try using src NAT instead.

Currently Hyper-V performs way better for CHR than either ESXi or ProxMox

We did extensive performance testing on CHR in our lab and the results are in this presentation from Berlin, Germany at MUM Europe 2018

I find that CHR runs great on XenServer.
