SR-IOV PCI bypass

Mon May 20, 2019 7:18 pm

Hello mikrotik,

To increase performance over virtualization, I tried to configure SR-IOV with SR-IOV interfaces or PCI direct devices.
I use a standard HP HP 2x 10GbE Ethernet 530FLR SFP+ DualPort with a Broadcom BCM57810S.

It's seems that this standard driver is not supported by routeros:

Is it a hard job or is it planned to add this standard driver in a future relaese so I can make a performance comparison with VMXNET3 ? 8)

Best Regards,
Julien

New drivers haven't been added to x86 ROS for ages. Yes, there's a lot of hardware that simply doesn't work.
I don't expect this to change in any way for ROS 6.x, only hope is that 7.x will have better drivers, but who knows when that will be released...

It would be big step forward - adding sr-iov drivers. They are regular ethernet drivers, so if MT can handle that out, I think baremetal x64 ROS dream would come true.
