2 x CSS326-24G-2S+RM

Hi,

I have purchased 2 x CSS326-24G-2S+RM units with a SFP+ DAC 1M cable for uplink. Per my understanding, this should provide 10gb uplink between the 2 switches, however upon testing this was not achievable (only got 1gbps between the SFP ports whether or not i used auto negotiate) - is this feature supported between multiple CSS Devices? If it is a software bug, is there an estimated time before a fix? I am considering getting another 6 of these units to use for our main network in one of our offices and need this to be clarified before i go ahead.

Thank you in advance

double check the ROS or SwOS version and firmware, from SwOS changelog:
What's new in v2.4:

*) CSS106: fixed upgrade over PoE ports when PoE stopped working;
*) CRS326: fixed port in disabled VLAN mode to forward untagged packets;

What's new in v2.3:

*) fixed CRS317: make 10G links more stable;
*) fixed "Allow From VLAN" on untagged packets with correct default vlan id;
*) LACP: fixed unstable aggregate link problem when partner had short retransmit timer;
*) CSS326 & CRS317: made 1Gb fiber SFP module work with auto negotiation;
*) CSS106: do not VLAN tag RSTP packets;

What's new in v2.2:

*) fixed CSS326 & CRS317 switch MAC address;
*) fixed CRS317 lockup;
*) make CSS326 & CRS317 10G links more stable;
*) fixed CRS317 temperature reading;
*) fixed problem where big ACL, VLAN or static hosts lists kept only couple of first entries;
*) made "Save Backup" work on CSS106;
*) SNMP: report always 0 in IF-MIB:ifOutQLen;
*) CSS106: report correct speed for SFP port via SNMP;

What's new in v2.1:

*) added support for per port and ACL ingress rate limitation to CSS326 & CRS317;
*) added support for LACP in CSS326 & CRS317;
*) fixed CSS106 accessing over VLAN;
*) fixed CSS106 ACL rules that change VLANs;
*) added tx/rx rates per port to CSS106;
*) SNMP: added support for BRIDGE MIB;
*) SNMP: added support for GetBulkRequest;

Thanks, however i am running version 2.4 on both CSS326 devices.
1Gbps works perfectly on sfp module, just not 10gbps and there is no option.

I would directly write support in this case. BTW, There's a SwOS 2.5rc2 release candidate version, not sure if would help in your case.

Hi,

Not sure whether this helps, but I have a DAC between my SFP+-equiped-NAS and CSS326 and the switch auto-negotiates the port to 10G according to the 'Link' tab. I didn't have the time yet to actually test the bandwidth, though.

Cheers,
Alex

Hi,

I'm having the same problem with my setup - 2 x CSS326-24G-2S+RM and SFP+ DAC 1M.
For some reasons I can't achieve 10G connection between those switches. Here is what I tried so far:
- different ports (SFP+ 1 and 2)
- SwOS 2.0/2/3/4/5/6
- configuration reset
Switches are strait from the box, without any additional configuration.

Have you found a solution for this problem?

Regards,
Maciej.

I didn't see 2.5rc2 either. But I noticed there's version 2.6 for CSS326. Will that be helpful? This problem occured with other users as well. Did you guys call support from MikroTik?

As I mentioned in my previous post I've checked firmwares 2.0/2.2/2.3/2.4/2.5 and 2.6 :-( And I haven't contacted the support yet.

Hi Ponury,

We improved DAC linking on CSS326-24G-2S+RM and there should not be any issues with SwOS 2.6. Have you tried some simple steps like disable/enable interfaces, power-cycle device, reinsert transceivers? Please give us more information how we could repeat this to see if there really is some issue or it's maybe HW fault.

Hi Arturs,

Thanks for joining this thread!

I've just checked disabling/enabling interfaces, reinserting transceivers and power-cycling both switches - still no 10G.
Maybe I'm wrong assuming that while there is a 10G connection there should be 10G text in the Speed column under the Link tab of the SwOS and the second led indicator under the SFP+ port should lit up?
Also, I've noticed that there is no option for 10G speed when I disable the Auto Negotiation feature on the SFP+ interface.

Hello cheers,

same thing here, impossible to negotiate at 10Gbps with DAC cables with 2 units of CRS317-1G-16S+ with the new 2.6 firmware. Early, no problem with 2.5.

With RouterOS, no any kind of problem to negotiate at 10G.

Have a nice day

A.

Hello, I have to revive this thread as I'm facing the exact same issue here!
Switch is on the latest available firmware from the built in updater.
I can get a 1G link if I set negotiation to manual, however in manual I have no 10G option, and on auto negotiation I can't get a link.
