Management Loss

Fri Mar 27, 2020 4:40 pm

We have 2 x CRS317-1G-16S+RM. On initial boot, I'm able to connect to the RouterOS on 192.168.88.1. I change the IP to 172.31.30.12, our management VLAN. When I change the switch to run SWos and reboot, I lose connectivity to the management site. I can still connect to the console but not web or winbox.

Perhaps something is not well configured on your VLANs ?

I'm not setting up VLANs yet. I just gave my computer a static IP in 192.168.88.1/24 to connect initially and then changed the computer IP to 172.31.30.1/24 after the IP change. The NIC for the machine is plugged into the ETHER/Boot port on the switch.

Re: Management Loss  [SOLVED]

In case this happens to anyone else, I figured this out on my end. I had to go into system>swos and set a static ip for the switch in swos mode. I also upgraded the firmware for both routeros and swos.

Did it lose the configuration because you switched from RouterOS to swOS ?

I don't think it lost it; it just wasn't set by default when you switch. In all the documentation I read, it said the default management ip was 192.168.88.1 for both routeros and swos. My switch came preloaded with swos 2.10. When I switched from routeros to switch (from default config), the swos management was 0.0.0.0. I had to go into routeros and set the mgmt ip for swos, and then I could switch between them both seamlessly.

Hiya

i had a similar issue, when i switched to SwOS and rebooted.. i lost access via winbox, i could only use the web interface page..

and the IP on the swOS did not changed to the configured one, i was able to access it using the 88.1 default ip, then on the system page configured back the IP from the CRS317
