Can CRS305 with swOS allow you to set sfp port specifically to 2.5g

Sun May 10, 2020 8:11 pm

Hey folks,

On the crs305 with swOS, can I get a sfp port specifically to 2.5g? The wiki talks about it but does not say if it can be set specifically to 2.5g.

Specify speed setting of the port

I have the same question. I have several USB adapters that support 2.5 Gig. This would be a nice increase to the speed for things like vMotion in my home lab. The CRS305 running Router OS seemed to support 2.5 gig but I can't get a link using the same NIC on the switch running swOS

Does anyone have some insight?

Thanks

I have the same question, however in my case I do get a link.

I upgraded my NAS with a 5G USB based ethernet NIC. When connected to the CRS305, SwOS reports the link as 10G, while the NAS reports its link as 5G. Shouldn't the CRS305 be reporting 5G?

Also, I am only getting about 500Mbits of throughput. If I connect the NAS to a 1Gbit switch, I get the full 900 Mbits. So, even though there is a link, something is off.

I would not expect to much from a USB based Ethernet adaptor, maybe if it's USB-C/Lightning-based.

My CRS309 running RouterOS reports 5Gbs:

name: sfp-sfpplus1
status: link-ok
auto-negotiation: done
rate: 5Gbps

This with a QNAP USB3 5G adapter on the other end. I assume you connect the same adapter to the gigabit switch? If not, are you sure your NAS has USB3 ports?
