CSS610-8G-2S+IN SFP+ Overheating Risk?

Tue Jan 26, 2021 1:38 pm

I'm still holding out hope that the CSS610-8G-2S+IN will be a viable product for me, despite the dumpster fire that is SwOS Lite, but I have another concern. In my experience, SFP+ Transceivers tend to run really hot. Given that the CSS610-8G-2S+IN is passively cooled, are they going to turn into little hot plates with two SFP+ port being fully utilized? Any anecdotes will be appreciated as some of my use case locations will not have any active cooling.

Thank you,

Re: CSS610-8G-2S+IN SFP+ Overheating Risk?  [SOLVED]

I run two 10Gb MMf SR ports admittedly not at a constant high load and temps are fine on the optics 36-40c if going by what's reported in webgui.

Edit: 10Gbase-t SFP+ will almost certainly be a bit hotter but I would imagine fine.
