RX Overruns with SwOS 2.13

Tue May 18, 2021 8:23 pm

Hello,

I recognized a counting amount of RX overruns on my CRS305-1G-4S+ switch, using a 10gbps DAC cable:

The DAC cable was already replaced but the issue still persists on the same port. Switching the cable to another port also didn't help, the errors will then appear on the new interface.
My CRS305-1G-4S+ is directly connected to a CRS326-24G-2S+ via the affected port. I don't see any issues on the CRS326 side.

The configuration was also checked, Flow Control is disabled and IGMP is enabled right now. Disabling IGMP didn't help, enabling Flow Control caused Pauses instead of the overruns.

Could someone tell me if it is possible to fix the issue? I'm no friends of port errors and would like to solve this.

Best regards

It seems I can reproduce the issue:

Only when 10Mbit/s or 100Mbit/s Clients are connected to my CRS305-1G-4S+ switch, the switch uplink port counts RX overruns. As soon as I disable the client ports with 10/100 Mbit/s, no RX overruns are shown anymore.

This only affects my CRS305-1G-4S+ switch, 10/100 Mbit/s clients connected to my CRS326-24G-2S+ are not bringing up the issue.

Mikrotik should check if following combination produces RX overruns:
CRS305-1G-4S+
SwOS 2.13
10/100 Mbit/s downlink to clients

Best regards

I don't suppose there has been any Progress on this front? I have been patiently waiting for a swOS Update for almost a year now to correct this issue, as I have quite a few Camera's that sit behind this Switch, and I am now seeing these constant overruns cause significant issues. Would love if I could just upgrade to a new swOS to solve this issue.

Do you really think I'd get something else than the usual "it's ready when it's ready" reply from Mikrotik support?

Do you really think you get something better by doing nothing?
