Dumb question?

Mon Sep 27, 2010 10:19 pm

Hi guys, probably a dumb question;

What settings to put @ Broadcast Storm Control - Storm Rate

1k? 2k? 16k? 32k? 512k? 1m? f/s ? How's this value calculated or estimated?

Include or not include unicast?

Sorry if this is too dumb, but I just don't know it and want to learn it.

Thanks for the reply, I know the definitions of the terms, what i don't know is how to calculate/estimate the values of those rates... is there a way to do it?

For example, 32k f/s means that this port will not forward more than 32'000 broadcast frames per second. Unicast option means whether unicast frames without MAC address entry in host table will be treated as broadcast frames.

Thanks again for the answer, ok 32k f/s understood, but which one should I use for my network? How do I know that?

Thanks
