mikrotik newbie settings

Wed Aug 09, 2006 2:39 pm

Hy all! I'm newbie in MikroTikOS, and I've got a few questions..

(firs of all, srry for my weak english)

I've got a little complex configuration, :

1 cable modem (DHCP from my ISP)

1 Linksys Router ( connected into the cable modem)

this configuration still alive and working. the workstations connecting into the Linksys router via Ethernet cable, getting 192.168.0.x ( 100-150 ) IP, and connecting into the NET.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i'd like to connect a mikrotikOS router-PC into this system, to separate another 10.0.0.x IP range, for a few workstation.

i've installed a mikrotik 2.9.6 lvl6 OS into a PC, and connected 3 ethernet card.

1. ethernet: name: config : IP: 192.168.1.150 (fix) connected into the Linksys router.
i'm configuring the mikrotikOS via this enternet adapter.

2. ethernet: name wan : IP dinamic ( getting dinamic IP from the Linksys router 192.168.1.x)

3. ethernet: name lan: DHCP server ( i' d like to serve 10.0.0.x IP address via this adapter) range ( 10.0.0.2-10.0.0.254 )

i've set up the ethernet interfaces, and a DHCP client into the interface (name: wan) adapter. & i've set up a DHCP server into the interface: (called lan).

Interfaces:

How can i set up the mikrotikOS, to serve NET into the 10.0.0.x clinets ?

how can i update my configured routerOS?

i've downloaded the "routeros-x86-2.9.28.npk" file, from http://www.mikrotik.com/download.html.

how can i transfer this file into mikrotikOS? i've started winbox, logged in, and found -> system -> Auto Upgrade menu, but how can I use this?

You at least have to configure NAT/masquerading, like this:
/ip firewall nat add chain=srcnat out-interface=wan action=masquerade
.

And you don't assign a DNS server to your clients, so I suppose you will have a hard time doing anything with name resolution - i.e. practically everything.

Best regards,
