Is this web cache config correct??

Thu Aug 17, 2006 3:30 pm

I´ve got this configuration for web cache

Image

I want to use as much as ram as possible and 50GB ok hard disk spaceç
I want to cache objects until 50mb

is the above config correct for the config i want?
I have made the right redirect of packets in firewall/nat to use a transparent cache.

now... why in the status screen says

Image

Reserved for cache: 22023168 KiB
and
Reserved for RAM cache: 2048 KiB

these are not the values I setted in the general tab

These are my system resources

I've had the same problem setting the RAM cache, no matter what I do only 2MB is used. One thing I have found is that by using a very fast slave drive for cache it has speeded it up quite a bit.

Your best option if you need to have maximum configuration would be to build a didicated squid proxy

He says that you need more RAM for bigger cache. Every one Gigabyte of cache needs 15MB of RAM. You have ~350MB of RAM, divided by 15 you get ~ 23GB of cache size ...
