Not enough disk space to perform update

Tue Jan 19, 2016 2:35 pm

Hi all,

I have a HAP lite, and am running version 6.33.3. I want to upgrade to 6.33.5 but get the error: ERROR: not enough disk space, 6.0MiB is required and only 1.6MiB is free

I am already stripped down to the basic packages, as you can see in this output:

system package print
Flags: X - disabled
# NAME VERSION SCHEDULED
0 system 6.33.3
1 security 6.33.3
2 wireless-cm2 6.33.3

The 'Files' menu simply shows a backup and a autosupout.rif file, totalling less than 500KB together.

I read another thread that said the update was supposed to take place in RAM, however there was no solution to the OP issue, which appears to be the same as mine.

My System Resources:
system resource print
uptime: 1w3d13h47m5s
version: 6.33.3 (stable)
build-time: Dec/03/2015 16:08:10
free-memory: 8.6MiB
total-memory: 32.0MiB
cpu: MIPS 24Kc V7.4
cpu-count: 1
cpu-frequency: 650MHz
cpu-load: 1%
free-hdd-space: 1640.0KiB
total-hdd-space: 16.0MiB
write-sect-since-reboot: 64939
write-sect-total: 72007
bad-blocks: 0%
architecture-name: smips
board-name: hAP lite
platform: MikroTik

What am I supposed to do here? I'd rather not have to do a netinstall each time.

Now the device has crashed as out of space, File List is empty, but all space is consumed.

I only have the following packages installed:

Security
System
Wireless

As i know updating firmware goes in RAM, and Flash size is not important for updating firmware..

Same Error... looking for answers, again. I have not had a good experience with Mikrotik thus far.

According to Normis, you have to use the other package download with individual packages and install those instead.

It should be enough to do reboot and then update.
How much free-memory you have after reboot?
Anyway 8,6MiB visible in your export should be good for update.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Did you find a solution to the problem?
I have a similar problem.
I can not upgrade to version 6.42.6
He says: ERROR: not enough disk space, 7.1MiB is required and only 6.7MiB is free
How can I clean it?

It does not show as a package. Simply confirm if it worked by comparing Free HDD Space before and after rebooting with fix_space.npk

Having this issue as well. Anyone find any way to fix it?

Device: hAP lite (RouterBOARD 941-2nD)
Updating from: 6.42.7
Updating to: 6.43.4
Via: winbox packages update option
Result: log showing system error, "not enough space for upgrade"
I tried: clearing out files of basically everything and then rebooting. Showing 8.7MiB of 16.0 MiB used. No effect. Same system error.

Also noticed that Free Memory is 9.0MiB (out of total 32MiB). Isn't this too low for right after router reboot?

Depending on number of packages installed, but 8MB free space should be enough. However, the packagrs to be updated via system -> packages -> update are downloaded into RAM on units with small NAND and 9MB free memory does sound a bit tight. What you can try is to manually download needed packages and push them to the router via file upload functionality. When all needed packages are safely uploaded, do a reboot.

Hmm, as we see absolutely nothing has changed. The bug stayed.
