CCR1009-8G-1S Replacement

Thu Mar 03, 2016 4:54 am

Anyone know why they stopped making the CCR1009-8G-1S? We used it all the time.

What is the best model to replace it with?

Our only concern is that it will pass gigabit wan to lan speeds.

As long as it can do that, we are open to any Mikrotik router.

We would prefer something in the same price range or less.

Thanks!

Why not just use one of the other ccr1009 models?

They do have a passive cooling model which is probably the closest upgrade. The other two models (passive or active cooling) cost more and have extra features.

Why did they stop making that model?

How about the new RB3011UiAS-RM?

Can it do gigabit wan to lan?

If you had a ccr, you cannot replace it by anything else than ccr again. Or by pc eventually. 3011 is not a replacement for sure. Depending on your configuration, maybe 1100ahx2 could be enough for you but hard to guess what you need...

We need gigabit wan to lan speed.

We have a firewall with about 40 rules.

The RB3011 series uses an ARM processor, which is still a work in progress. You are better off just using another CCR1009 model or better.

There are 3 actual versions of ccr1009. Why you cannot just choose one of them?

Wow! Can you guys read? I asked if anyone knew why they discontinued it. We have a lot of them in the field and I want to know if there is an issue with them.

Probably because they started to produce passive cooled devices. Who wants to listen ventilator noise and be afraid when it stops?

I think because there is also a CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ model with 2GB RAM, LCD Screen and 10Gbit for just around $ 50,- more. For me that is the best priced model they offer.

i think was a logical way of product evolution

CCR1009-8G-1S-PC
the cheaper model goes passive to attend many requests of a powerful, compact but silent device for desktop use (come with accesory to rack it), this device no need to be big rack wide size

CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+PC
give the possibility of a more versatile device still silent and compact for desktop adding oled screen, sfp+ and more ram (come with accesory to rack it) this device no need to be big rack wide size

CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+
full rack version with active cooling and dual redundant power supply the fact which makes this device full rack wide is the redundant power supply

i think this 3 models are very good and appropriate for many deployments

maybe is easier to sell to the customer a big in size device for 425 us, now you have to sell a similar 495 us device but with more professional features, appropriate to enterprise environments, looks fair to me
