L2TP VPN client interface parameters lost

Mon Nov 07, 2016 4:55 pm

Hello, we use hex PoE lite in combination with 3G USB dongle as VPN client. During last two weeks it happened twice, that two different Mikrotiks (6.37.1 and 6.36.3) disconnected itself from VPN server and did not reconnect anymore. When diagnosing it locally, we have found, that L2TP client interface totally lost its parameters and was disabled from some reason. The rest of router configuration remained intact. We have not found any possibility of external unauthorized access in terms of direct connection and configuration changes (Mikrotik is locked in case, 3G does not use public IP). There are no bad sectors in internal storage. We use watchdog for router reset in case of VPN disconnection.
Has anybody noticed this problem?

We are experiencing the same problem, but in our case, we've seen it on our legacy 750s and some 450Gs - running either 6.34.6 or 6.36.4.

We also have Watchdog enabled for the same purpose of restarting on VPN disconnect, both L2TP and PPTP connections.

In some cases our routers had more than one L2TP connection, and only one is affected.

Were you able to determine anything with this?
