You can suggest it (send feature request to support). But you'll have to be very (and I mean VERY) convincing.

Quite simple: HTTP proxy only supports TCP, and SOCKS5 can support UDP.
Routing isn't the best solution in all environments, and proxies are instead a good solution in some cases. But UDP is required for some services. Then, please, add SOCKS5 proxy support.

Try harder. ;) I mean, we're talking about company that did not bother upgrading SOCKS server to version 5 even for the most basic stuff, i.e. outgoing TCP connections, where the differences from current version 4 are close to none. And you want them to jump to advanced stuff like UDP support...

oh damn, SOCKS5?

I would rather argue to remove socks completely... MT is a router, not a proxy.

Some people keep telling that, but it sounds more like their wishful thinking than reality. RouterOS had non-router extras as long as I know it. That would be around 11 years. So this "pure router" idea is just a dream for at least that long.
