RB333 config file in RB433?

Thu Apr 27, 2017 11:23 pm

The RB333 has been replaced by RB433. I bought one, and the config file from the RB333 loaded in fine and Winbox can see it. I installed it in our system but it did not work. Is there some incompatibility that must be addressed?

There is no incompatibility. You probably use different Ros version and different configuration. The users are not transferable by export - import. Hard to say what could be the problem because you didn't provide any information.

I'm sure the Ros versions are different. I just loaded the file from 333 to 433. That could be the problem right there. Also, when you say users aren't transferable, does that mean the backup file has to be from the board it was made on?

Have you used /export or /system backup? The later one cannot be transferred between routers.

Backup is for the same device with the same Ros version only.

Good point! I don't remember. As you can tell, I'm a newbie to Routerboard but getting better. I can't do it immediately, but I'll post back here what I find. Thanks both of you for your help!

@mfrazier3030: When you want to save configuration for later use always use /export option - it will save a file which you can alter or restore to another devices (but beware of MAC addresses). System backup is what is says - a backup. It's used to perform (usually automatic) backups of devices in case if e.g. update fails and you have to restore it quickly.
