Yes. A 532 without radio cards.

Couple of months old and started rebooting every few minutes. It's RMAd at the moment. I'm waiting for a replacement but lead times in the UK are stretching to weeks.

This whole delivery time thing is becoming a real problem. I could use a lot more of these boards but at the moment I can't get my hands on them within a sensible time frame.

Regards

RB532 - Reboots constantly

Thu Nov 30, 2006 11:56 pm

I have two RB532 units that reboot constantly. I have used two different wall wart power supplies but the same problem. I hope there is not a batch of faulty units.

Can you get to a console port? (or is it on a tower)
If yes is there any output before reboot?

Have you tried 2.9.38 ?

Just some ideas....

Yes, I can get to a console port, but nothing is outputted before the system shuts off. In the logs after reboot I see:

system, error, critical router rebooted without proper shutdown, probably power outage

On one of the other RB532 units I had, it showed these same symptoms in both ver 2.9.28 2.9.30. Maybe a BIOS upgrade might help.

This machine were running all days long but since a few days it keep on rebooting (without proper shutdown). No other messages available.

Edit: right now version 2.9.38 is running on the machines.

I cannot believe if thats a row of damaged routerboards, anyone got new informations regarding that issue ?

Tried it too on a board, that has been working flawless for months. It was fixed with a bios reset and an netinstall

Hey KimC,
did you have the same problem with rebootings every 5-10 minutes ?

If yes, then i could just try that instead of buying a new one...

Do you got any problems writing the configuration back to the router and with license ??

Yes, reboot with short intervals, and I did not have licence problem

Remember to upgrade firmware in the process. I did this before upgrade via the serial interface.

Router reboots within short intervals

Thu Jan 25, 2007 11:49 pm

I have another RB532 unit which was working fine for about a week and then recently it started having a problem where it reboots every 1-3 minutes. I upgraded the BIOS to version 2.6 and also upgraded the OS to 2.9.39. Even used two different power supplies.
Log:
dec/31/1999 16:00:18 system, error, critical router rebooted without proper shutdown, probably power outage

Any further suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. :?:
