dynamic gateway monitoring

Fri May 26, 2017 6:15 pm

Hi all,

I do have a Mikrotik router and I would like to setup a dual WAN failover (I'm not interested in load-balancing).
Both WAN interface are accessed via DHCP Clients.
On the standby interface at the DHCP client options I set the add default route to yes, and Default route distance to 2 (the live line has 1 as default).
In theory this should work, but unforunately when I disconnect the link on the main line, the Gateway state (on the Routes/Nexthops page) doesn't change, the disconnected line stays reachable, so the failover isn't happening.
I tried to find options to enable the gateway-check=ping for these interfaces both via Webfig and CLI, but no luck.
How I can enable this (preferably via the webfig)?
The documentation which says add interface via the cli doesn't work for me because I already have these interfaces configured, I believe I only need to enable the gateway-check=ping somehow.

Thanks.
