I have an MT router with a DS-3 SBE card and would like to see more stats on the interface (i.e. bits in/out ) similar to what I get to see on the Ethernet interfaces.

Is this only a hope or will these fetures make it into one of the future releases on MT?

I would like to second that request. This would be HUGE for us. Right now, I have to rely on our DS3 provider to let us know if they see errors on the line, etc. Seeing it my self would help tremendously!
