feature request

Sun Nov 26, 2006 9:26 pm

It Will be nice to see in MT software arpwatch tool.I had MT based core router, but now I have to use FreeBSD, because Windows (R) users very simple may change own mac-address and have access to Internet... arpwatch cant prevent it but can show "smart" user real ip, mac address...

how about using radius right now? so every user has to enter login name and password

or set arp=reply-only and everyone who changes its mac is screwed?

Believe me, there are folks that are changing both mac and ips :)
Arp-reply is great option, but can't protect you against intruders with a little more knowledge than average user.

To start using radius server on over 1000 wireless nodes network at this point would be very painful...

So adding arpwatch is great idea ;)

Anyway MT Os will gain more customers if they implement more features.

Cheers...

Something like pppoe (optionally with radius) would solve the need of ethernet based users changing their mac addresses.

Also, customers should not connect to a core router, but rather an edge router. Minor terminology for the most part.
