CALEA/TZSP/Sniffing

Thu Feb 22, 2018 12:18 am

Hi There! Hopefully someone can help me figured this one out.

I have a CRS125 that has no configuration on it other than a single bridge (bridge1) that all ports belong to it. It also has a dhcp-client for obtaining an IP configuration from the LAN - 192.168.1.246. It's named 'switch'.

I setup a packet sniffer, pointed it at my pc (192.168.1.254) and set a filter on wireshark for only TZSP traffic (udp port 37008).

On ether4, is my Synology NAS which responds to ping traffic.

While the sniffer is running on ether4, and while sending ICMP ping requests (and receiving responses from the NAS), I don't see the traffic in the sniffer. I also don't see it in any of the packets, connections, hosts or protocol screens. However, I do see traffic from the NAS, just not everything.

Why not?

edit: Forgot to add, I get similar results going with a calea (ip firewall calea) rule.
