Thu Apr 05, 2018 9:38 am

Hi

Is there going to be a live stream? I presume it would be under their youtube page?

Unfortunately no exciting new 10-port 2+5 GHz WiFi metal-case tabletop gigabit router for home use...
(still waiting for what the RB3011 promised to be, and I think MikroTik hinted that there would be news like that)

A good host of new products, definite lean towards the enterprise and 10G switching market though. In the absence of anything official from MikroTik so far I've gently harvested a few screenshots from the live stream here https://www.steveocee.co.uk/mikrotik-mu ... uncements/

Power Line AP looks good, wonder if it will need CapsMan to operate it, that would be a nice integration.

Power line adapter should provide 100Mbps only. Quite slow and late IMHO.

thanks for posting, no prices on the switches I noticed so likely some way out? Any verbal price guide given?

Need to replace my netgear core of home network but now I went MikroTik I can’t go back!

Noticed that the crs328 that is just now available was launched last year at a MUM for example and took a while to be on sale.

crs354-48g-4s+2q+ Looks very nice, but can’t wait 8 months and maybe a pair of crs326 now make more sense in my case.

The baby 4 port sfp+ looks useful as well...

New switches line looks nice, but something like CRS309-8G-1S+ (or CRS311-10G-1S+/CRS313-12G-1S+) in a compact metal enclosure (similar to CRS305-1G-4S+) and inexpensive would be a good addition.
Or even better - 10GE/SFP+ combo, instead of SFP+ :)

LDF2 looks really cool as well, I have absolutely no practical need but now I want to experiment!

Nope. I am now though. Normally quite switched on with media and advertising but missed both of these.

So I take it there is no news about a new RB3011? I have searched everywhere and so far..nothing.
Is there any press release issued about new products yet? What about the 1100AHx4? Any updates about new products in that lane?
Thx!

Nothing exciting. Most of the new stuff is very enterprise and 10G switching oriented. As always a couple of smaller nik-nak products such as the power AP thing but other than that. Nothing big.

Nothing new in Wireless and nothing new about ROS 7

If hoped for something like 60Ghz AP with 5 GHz Backup and compatible CPE

It's certainly nice to see the LHG-60G right at the top of the presentation, between other products that are already on the market. Hopefully that indicates that it will be available soon.

Ah common Mikrotik, mANT 5o LTE, at first i was YES, finally new LTE device, than realized its just antena.

Was it a problem to give us such product with builtin LTE modem of higher category than current ones you have.Thats all pointless what you did.WAP LTE performs so bad, no antena will help it, and entire design is stupid and pointless.(WAP LTE + This antena??)

Give us external LTE product with higher CAT modem that can actually achieve more than 50mbit/s, even random 5 year old phones i have can give me more than WAP LTE on same spot..

I was hoping for something SOHO between RB3011 and 1100AHx4...
Or maybe a desktop version of 1100 at least not rack mounted as it is in the present and with none of the stuff like redundant PSU sd card suport...
What I am looking for is a Mk router/switch for SOHO that can route 1Gbps PPPoE Wan and switch chips that can do wire speed at the same time for lan. 1100AHx4 can do that I think but I don't need some of its features at all and also it has quite big max power consumption...
Would have been great if Mk had launched a product like that...

Something to compete with Edgerouter4 then? I fully agree. There seems to be a bit of a "gap" in the range.

Like Edgerouter4 yeah!)) Well since we are all dreamers at some point in life let me tell you my dreamrouter for my actual needs:
- RouterOS L4 or 5
- fanless (and without capacitors in the PSU if possible) - so completely silent
- 8/10 or 13 ethernet Gigabit ports
- a decent 4 core CPU like 1100AHx4 has
- switch chips on each port group (1 switch 3 ports would be a fantasy:)
- decent Gigabit lanes on each switch chip (7.5 Gbps combined like 1100AHx4 has is more then enough for me)
- able to switch at wire speed and also route 1Gbps with PPPoE encapsulation on wan port - and this is deal breaker
- 10-15 W power consumption would be great
- don't need usb port
- don't need sd card support/ M2 ifaces like the Dude edition has
- don't need redundant PSU
- don't need SFP cage
- don't need LCD
- not rack mountable but desktop/wall mountable
- not ARM (Mk kinda failed with RB3100 being the only ARM they ever produced)
- priced somewhere at 300$ more or less
- a mediocre AP built in would be a plus but I guess with those specs it would be out of the product target

So..this would be a very nice product imho for SOHO)
I waited for MUM Berlin and it seems ..nothing like this..
Thoughts? :)

I have no problem with devices using ARM architecture.
However, the 3011 looked like it would be available in the same diversity as the 2011.
- rack model (no WiFi)
- basic desktop model
- desktop model with WiFi, serial, etc.
Then of course due to change in technology we expected dual-band fast WiFi
However, there apparently was a design error in the WiFi part and the WiFi model was never released,
and therefore no desktop model either. What I expected was a new model that would replace the 3011
and have this functionality. Does not matter if it is ARM or MIPS, as long as it can route gigabit internet.
However, now that it has turned out that the switches in the 3011 do not work correctly either, I would
prefer when first the design is made correct...

+1
However, I love Mk products! Can 1100AHx4 do at least some of what I wrote above? Reading about it here and there..it seems so..but my problem is PPPoE encapsulation...

Im MTIK user since 90's. From the very begging, routerOS on 5 floppies, PCMCIA cards in ISA slots, etc.
After some years, i stepped again in to the MUM, in Berlin.
... and one day was enough for me and my friend.
I felt like on MUM in 2008! 10-years ago!
Nothing changed. Still the same booooring presentation... MPLS, VPLS, BGP, come on! Who is using MPLS or BGP on MikroTik? Who do you wanna be? Cisco, Juniper? Really?
Low budget Cisco devices, well ok.
Your wireless crap. Really performance is so shitty comparing to your competitors, so better... leave it unsaid.
As regards wireless and presentations, thats great that go for EHF technology but you present one product with no information what next or information that you made only this and finish. If i mentioned about 60GHz, Antons presentation, this was what for? What it showed? Nothing more that we all can find in brochure specification. OK, he presented how it works in multipoint (2 clients, sic!) and in the big room, but how many cases this will cover in real practice? I expected that you will present how it run well in outdoor environment, snow, rain etc. and what is performance with max 10 clients connected to its, full stress tests for mikrotik geeks not a presentation like this one from Media Markt, hehe. Well, excuse me while I go contemplate the irony of that.

MIKROTIK where are you heading?????? In which direction????
To be Cisco? Or just a vendor for small ISPs/WISPs? or SOHO? Home users? Or innovative IT company? I guess you can not be all of that in the same time.

Well I think there is at least one market gap that MK sucessfuly covers and that is between home/entry level equipments and enterprise devices like Cisco or Juniper. Of course Cisco and Juniper have their own devices targeted at SOHO but you pay more for the same features.

Imho nothing can beat the RouterOS + a stable hardware device combo for a SOHO that wants more than let's say an entry level TP link Asus Dlink and all that mumbo jumbo and at the same time does not want to pay more for less like for example buying a Cisco device. That's the gap MK filled pretty good over the years, I think.

Now for the enterprise part, carriers and so on..i don't know how sucessful they are but I think they never really wanted to go down that lane. Look at their selling strategy...many countries from Africa use Mk infrastructure due to its low deployment costs and I think that says something about them...
