High cpu with 1.2M PPS CCR1072

Mon May 21, 2018 4:20 pm

We run a CCR1072 in production with bgp, some transits and some peers.
One of our customers is doing 350Mbit per uplink and about 650K PPS and this is causing the router to use 90-95% of all its cores
Router almost flips because of this. As soon as we kill his uplink the CPU goes back under 10%.

Any solution for this or is the CCR1072 simply not strong enough to handle such a low amount of packages...

We have no firewall rules in place that could strain the cpu's

I think It's routeros's fatal problem, compare " hardware" devices.

disable connection tracking maybe reduce cpu load,

i agree

i think disabling connection tracking is the way to go on this situation

beware of checking possible attack to the router to be sure

Thanks, disabling connection tracking did not do anything noticeable.
