Thermal Issues with 450G router

Tue Jul 10, 2018 1:51 am

I'm starting to have thermal issues with a 450G router. Is this a common issue with these units? In a room that is ~30c the unit is running at 53c. I have a Powerbox outside in the sun where the ambient temperature is ~34c and it's only running 42c. The 450c at around 50c starts locking up or power cycling. The only way to keep it running is to place a fan on the top of it. The unit is in a case but since the thermal issues have started I have removed the cover.

Starting to think the hardware is faulty with this unit and I need to replace it but any input would be great.

If I were to replace it would it be suggested to replace it with a RB450x4 or hEX S? It's basically being used as a gateway router (running DHCP/DNS/queues) for a home network connected to a WISP.

The following graph shows the temp. The spike on the right is when the fan is off.
