it's simply not possible due to limitations of web browsers and the amount of work such project would involve

I don't think it's desirable either - Webbox should be kept simple, preferably for end users who should not be able to tweak or "break" to many thanks.

Next question: can we have "branding" for web-box?
Think it could be made as simple as a drop-in .GIF with logo of a predetermined size, and maybe a text source file "xyz company" FTP'd to the box ...

Regards

I agree webbox cannot have all functionality as winbox, but as it is now, it is hardly usable. It just wastes resources.

You could always SSH/Telnet into the box from your PDA. Hell I'm sure you could even use Winbox. Don't be afraid of the CLI! :)

I wouldn't recommend logging into the webbox as an admin, and I don't believe that was its intended purpose. I don't give customers access to their CPEs so I don't really use this feature at all. If I were to, I would create a limited account for the subscriber that would allow them to use webbox to setup port forwarding and such. Otherwise I don't see why you would use webbox for administration. Winbox and SSH work all too well.

I agree that the webbox should not include the 'full' feature set as winbox does - however I think it should be brought up to a feature level equal to that of say a Linksys or Netgear firewall/router.

i was thinking of if the administrator can select/deselect packages which are going to appear in the webbox , so that he may also remove all packages from webbox for security reason ( that's what you want )

by the way , my mobile provider doesnt allow ssh/telnet or any other port than 80 :x

to be able to "select packages to appear in webbox" we first have to make all those "packages" which is huge work and will take months of time

whats the problem with telnet or ssh - this is quick, works on all plattforms including pda and symbian, is fully implemented and also in colours in ROS-V3 - that should be enough colours for wintendo admins ;-))

wintendo admins usually break even simple things, like - set address form same subnet on 2 different interfaces of the device.

so. please, lets keep things simple:

webbox for complete novice users
winbox/ssh for experts
training for intermediate :D

So that's why it wasn't working! I swear they skipped that subject at MCSE training...

What provider are you using? Do they allow Email? Probe the ports and see what ports are open. If you can, change the port ssh is listening on to one that is allowed by your provider. Or switch to a better provider that gives you an actual internet connection.
