Assign IPv6 to PPTP/OVPN clients

Wed Nov 14, 2018 5:44 pm

In my office I have a routerboard, and the ISP supply us both 1 static public IPv4 address and /64 of IPv6 addresses.

I used to set up VPN servers there so my collegues can connect to office LAN and also have a secure internet link when work via public wifi networks (so the default gateway is via VPN link). The VPN used get "private" IPv4 assigned, and NATed further.

What I would like to do it set up IPv6 addresses assigned to VPN clients as well - mostly as a test case for IPv6 deployment. I expected that if I set up IPv6 address on the router marked as "advertised" then VPN clients will get its IPv6 addresses automatically (it it have IPv6 stack enabled), but in fact it won't work this way.

I used to use PPTP and OVPN as out primarily VPN protocols (mostly because of OSes support available), so maybe there are some tricks I can use to have IPv6 assigned to VPN clients?

Thank you in advance!
