RouterOS x86 Supported Hardware and Drivers

Sat Dec 29, 2018 8:52 pm

Hi MikroTik,

I'm trying to find an up-to-date page for the list of supported hardware and drivers available for RouterOS x86.

I found this page https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supporte ... t_chipsets but it looks like the page is no longer maintained.

On the page it says that for RouterOS v6, igb driver is at version 3.2.10-k. Is this still the case even with latest RouterOS v6.43.8? RouterOS v6 has been out for a long time and that igb driver is ancient!

Thanks, would really appreciate any help.

Mikrotik had abandoned x86 support for almost 2 years, because they created CHR image for VM ambients. But there is some pressure in the forums to update support and also pression to include x86/x64 RouterOs Image and updates.

There is a trick to got x64 routeros version in x86 image, just search the forums (using google).

Sadly there is no official list of supported hardware or list of drivers, or their versions, included in various ROS releases. Drivers/kernel modules differ even between platforms.
You can try to unpack the main package (7zip does the job) and look for the kernel modules of interest. They usually have version number included somewhere in the module.
Some drivers are compiled in the kernel itself, for these it's harder to figure out the actual version. You can try greping the kernel for strings that were added in various versions etc.
It's all detective work, and you are on your own, expect no official help...
