Basic Vlan setup on RB750hex and RB750

Sun Feb 03, 2019 2:45 pm

Hi, I'm a noob to mikrotik technology and networking in general. I have a situation where I need to setup a RB750hex as a router and 2 x RB750's as management switches in different physical locations. I want to setup a VLAN topology with the RB750's as management switches connecting to the RB750hex with 2 Trunk ports.

I will have 4 VLANS with ID's respectively setup as VLANID: 20 = Office (, 30 = Hotspot (, 40 = CCTV (, 50 = Home (

All VLAN devices should get their IP addresses via the DHCP server which will reside on RB750hex.

I have tried so many times, but just cannot manage to get it working.

Your help in this will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

post your hexconfig so far
/export hide-sensitive file=myconfig
I'd rather manage rats than software. Follow my advice at your own risk! (Sob & mkx forced me to write that!)

Like anav said, post your config or else we are guessing.. With that said, you said "the DHCP server". You need to configure a separate DHCP pool and server per VLAN. What you are doing with the RB750 (the one playing router) is somewhat similar to what I am doing with mine. Each of mine has one WAN port, three ports that each carry one VLAN (untagged), and one trunk port that has four or five tagged VALNs. I am not doing any switching in the routers.
RB750Gr3, RB750r2, CRS326-24G-2S (in SwitchOS), CSS326-24G-2S, CSS106-5G-1S, RB260GS
Not sure if I beat them in submission, or they beat me into submission
