wAP ac and wap60g PoE issues on Catalyst 9300

I'm facing strange issues powering wAP ac and wap60g devices from a Cisco Catalyst 9300. The devices don't turn on at all.
They work well with Cisco 3560, UBNT Edge Switches and Netonix.
Now the fix that made it work is really strange: I just insert a passive MTik Gigabit PoE injector on the AP side, no PSU connected, direction of insertion doesn't matter - and the device powers up.
It doesn't work if put the injector right at the switch port. Cable is Cat6 S/FTP, termination is proven good.
I had the same issue on a NetGear GS110TP recently.

That's what the 9300 is telling me:

Mar 20 16:57:46.925: ILP_DETECTING_S: Te1/0/24 phy still didn't get back to us.
It looks like a real short and not a csco pd. don't power up the pd
Any ideas on this?
Looks to me as if the MTik devices are a bit too lazy in responding.

Thanks,
-Chris

Looks like a crossover cable fixes the Poe issue with the injector. Here is the best description I could find:

Had a somewhat similar problem with a way cheaper cisco (WS-C2960L-16PS-LL). After updating to 15.2.7ED switch and wAPs correctly negotiate PoE.
